The US backed the versions of Apple and Amazon, which denied a Chinese filtration with microchips
The Department of Safety assured that it does not have reasons to doubt of the versions of the companies. A Bloomberg report notes that the Chinese regime would have installed spy devices on North American computers.
Days after an alleged leak of the Chinese regime circulated through microchips installed in computers made in the United States, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS, for its acronym in English) said on Sunday that supports the versions of Apple and Amazon, who deny the information published last week in a Bloomberg Businessweek report.
“The Department of Homeland Security is aware of media reports (…) at this time we have no reason to doubt the statements of the companies mentioned in the story,” he said, through a statement, the Department of Security, Zero Hedge slogan.
“The security of the information and communications technology supply chain is critical to the DHS cybersecurity mission and we are committed to the security and integrity of the technology that Americans and others around the world trust each again, “he added.
Last Thursday, Apple rejected the Bloomberg versions, arguing that the company, after an internal investigation of its own, had not found evidence of the alleged Chinese spy chips.
Also, the Cupertino company clarified that it was not aware of an FBI investigation on this issue either.
“We tried to find out if something had happened, that it was even very close to this … We did not find anything,” Apple’s senior executive told BuzzFeed News.
In as much, they assured that for them the most disconcerting information was the one that affirmed that the company would have informed of what happened to the FBI.
The Bloomberg report indicated that the Chinese government used microchips installed in the heart of computers made in the United States to steal technology secrets and to try to spy on US security agencies.
The specialized publication in technology The Verge, qualified it as one of the most audacious hacking operations carried out by any state that has ever been reported.
The immediate investigation determined that, with the microchips hidden in the devices, the hackers gained access to the entire network where the systems were installed.
For its part, it was also learned that the microchips were inserted into the plates by Chinese soldiers in factories operated by subcontractors in that country.
